How to get here:
Kampala city centre is 5kms away and is easily accessible by minibus taxi (known locally as a ‘matatu’) for a fare of around UGX 900 one way.
From Kampala city centre, look for a matatu heading for Luzira or The Port Bell Road. They leave from the old Taxi Park or anywhere along Kampala Road.
Get off on the Port Bell Road at the Shell station, just after the Bugolobi junction. Take the road on your left (Kireka Road) and after around 300m you will see our signpost on the left hand side, just after the old soap factory.
When driving from Jinja Road, turn into Port Bell Road at the Nakawa traffic light junction (opposite Metro Cash & Carry). Drive for 2.4kms and turn left at the Shell fuel station and look for our sign as above.
Our physical and postal addresses are:
Plot 17. Gangaram Road, Mbuya, Kampala
P.O. Box 40288, Nakawa, Kampala

A Guide to Money Ugandan Style
The prices quoted within this site are in Ugandan Shillings (UGX).
As of the 1st May 2009 the foreign exchange mid-rates between UGX and other currencies are as follows:
United States Dollar 2230
Pound Sterling 3360
Euro 3020
Kenya Shilling 28.2
Please note that although the Ugandan Shilling is generally stable, exchange rates may be subject to rapid change.
Red Chilli is currently only able to accept payment in Ugandan Shillings or U.S. Dollars cash. We aim to allow credit card payments soon.
Our buying and selling rates for US$ cash payments vary depending on the current exchange rate. Please enquire if you wish to know this month’s rate.
Please note, U.S. Dollar notes from 2001 or before are often rejected in Uganda or attract a far lower rate. Small denomination notes (below US$50) also receive lower rates. It is also best to change dollars at banks and foreign exchanges in Kampala as rates at other establishments and elsewhere in the country can be a lot lower. Credit cards are not widely accepted in Uganda.
